An extraordinary immersive journey

JULES VERNE 200 is the first immersive experience dedicated to one of the most popular and influential writers in the world. A pioneer of scientific literature, Verne anticipated many of the scientific and technological advances that came decades after his novels, and his extraordinary voyages deeply shaped popular culture and our collective imagination.

Eight thematic rooms and up to 90 minutes of adventure: a 28-minute large-scale immersive movie, 360° virtual reality, a free-roaming Vernian metaverse, interactive installations and original 19th-century editions, in a one-of-a-kind steampunk world with an original score by Rafel Plana, recorded by the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra and Choir. On tour around the world towards 2028, the bicentenary of Jules Verne's birth.

The Société Jules Verne

JULES VERNE 200 has the support and advice of the Société Jules Verne, the international reference organisation in Vernian studies.

Founded in Paris in 1935, for nearly a century the Société has published bibliographies, original versions of Verne's posthumous works and his correspondence. Its Bulletin de la Société Jules Verne gathers studies and unpublished texts by the author and is an essential source for researchers all over the world.

“Verne would undoubtedly have appreciated this tribute to his books, his work, and the international admiration he received.”

The Vernian Work

Discover the legendary partnership between Jules Verne and his publisher Pierre-Jules Hetzel, who guided his scientific research and published most of his works over 40 years, in serialised instalments that made the Voyages Extraordinaires a kind of 19th-century Netflix. Explore first editions and books in many languages — Verne is the most translated author in the world after Agatha Christie — alongside globes, diving suits and antique maritime instruments that capture the adventurous spirit of the 19th century, while vintage posters line the walls.

Le Grand Planisphère Numérique

Scene after scene, you are surrounded by them, discovering curiosities about the novels in which they appear, alongside engravings by Édouard Riou, Jules Férat and Léon Benett, vintage posters and early cinema.

In this Sketch & Post interactive installation you discover some of these machines, colour them in and scan them, then watch your creations come to life, animated in a breathtaking panorama of Verne's native Nantes.
